Lumen Circle

Terms of Use

For the Lumen Circle app. Provider: Philippe Froehly, Schupfarterstrasse 6, 5074 Eiken, Switzerland.

What you get

Lumen Circle is a dashboard for Apple Home and Philips Hue. The app runs on your iPhone, your iPad and your Apple Watch and talks directly to HomeKit and, if you connect it, to your Hue Bridge on the home network. There is a single version with every feature; there is no second tier.

The first four days

After installing it, you can use Lumen Circle in full for four days, without paying and without creating an account. After that the app stays locked until a subscription is running. Your settings are kept.

Subscription, price and cancellation

Your contract partner for the payment is Apple, not the provider of this app. Refunds are handled by Apple; you make the request at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What the app needs

A home in Apple’s Home app. Without accessories set up, Lumen Circle has nothing to show. The energy meter also needs a Philips Hue Bridge on the same network. Weather, notifications, the leaving alert and Party mode each require a permission from iOS; refuse one of them and you lose exactly that feature and nothing else.

What the provider does not answer for

Lumen Circle shows and switches what HomeKit and the Hue Bridge make available. Whether your accessories are reachable, whether your sensors measure correctly and whether an automation from your manufacturer does what it should is outside this app’s influence.

The app is not a security system and not an alarm system. The leaving alert and the threshold alerts are hints, not a guarantee: they depend on iOS waking the app, on the device having power and network, and on the sensors reporting. Do not rely on Lumen Circle for safety, health or fire protection.

The energy figures are calculated, not measured. Hue lamps do not measure their consumption. Lumen Circle works it out from model, switch state, brightness and colour, with curves from the open Powercalc project. For known models that is close; for unknown ones it stays an estimate. The numbers are good for comparing and for getting a sense of scale, not as the basis for a bill.

The provider’s liability is limited to intent and gross negligence, as far as the law permits.

Your data

Lumen Circle has no servers. What the app knows about your home stays on your device. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

These terms can change, for instance when the app gains new features. Apple tells you in advance about changes to the price of a running subscription; you can then cancel before they take effect.

Law and place of jurisdiction

Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Eiken, Switzerland, unless mandatory provisions for the protection of consumers provide otherwise.
